AGRICULTURE
It’s no longer news that the occupation of the
people of the Ovia South West LGA is
predominantly farming. Therefore, Engr. Edosa
Enoeoghomwenma, the Executive Chairman
took it as a prime responsibility to bring back the
lost glory of Ovia South West LGA as the food
sufficiency of our dear state. In this regard, we
shall be unavailing the different areas the
Council Chairman initiated, empowered and
supported to boost the agricultural sector of the
LGA:
- Ongoing Renovation & Modelling of the
Rice Mill at lguorikhi Community. - Ongoing Construction of the Rice Mill at
Igbogor Community - Training and Empowerment Program for
Poultry Farmers in Iguobazuwa - Empowerment of 50 Maize Farmers with
Improved seedlings and chemicals. - Empowerment of 50 Rice Farmers with
100kg each of improved seedlings and
chemicals. - Participation in 2023 World Food Day,
Hosted by Edo State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, at the exhibition, Ovia South-west came out first position.
On going Renovation of the Rice Mill at
Iguoriakhi. This is initiated by the Executive
Chairman to mitigate a usual situation where the
LGA plants, harvest the rice and others come to
buy the unmilled rice, takes it to their Locality to
mill and Brand the rice as their product. As the
Rice Mill Building is going on, the Executive
Chairman has also finalised the Brand Name for
Ovia South West LGArice.
EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME
The Executive Chairman also amazingly engaged
in different meaningful empowerment
programmes for the Youth and Woman:
- EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN WITH
GRINDING MACHINES - TRAINING OF 100 YOUTHS ON
PASTRIES MAKING - ODUWA TALENT HUNT
- LAUNCHING OF IGHO’EKI ODUWA
(MARKET MONEY) AT IGUOBAZUWA
AND UDO MARKETS
SECURITY
The Executive Chairman has also done well in
the area of Security of the LGA:
- Renovation of Military Officers Base in
Iguobazuwa. - Monthly Financial and logistical support to
ESSN and Vigilante Network. - Provision of 11 Motorbikes to ESSN to aid
operations. - Partnership with the Nigerian Army. Also
having the presence of military personnel
on patrol in Ovia Southwest. - Monthly Bush Combing and Show-of-force
across the LGA by combined security
outfits, incluiding Army, Police, ESSN,
Vigilante. - Logistical support to two Commissioner of
Police tactical teams in the LGA – AntiKidnapping and Crack team since Nov.,
2023. - Monthly subventions to Widows of Ex
Service Men in Ovia South-West, as
Promised by the Executive Chairman at the
Armed Forces Remembrance Day
Celebration 2024.
WASTE MANAGEMENTSERVICES
The Executive Chairman has made sanitation in Ovia
South West LGA compulsory and interesting. He
Inaugurated the Ovia South-West Environmental
Health Volunteers’ Scheme to raise awareness,
promote education and take action to create a safer,
heathier and more sustainable environment, with
strict compliance of Environmental sanitation in the
LGA.He established and Created Refuse dumpsites
at Iguobazuwa, Udo and Ugbogui.He also evacuated
the over ten years mountains of refuse at the Udo,
Iguobazuwa and Ugboguimarkets
CONSTRUCTION
- Construction of a block of 10 lock up stores at Udo
Market - Construction of a block of 10 lock up stores at Usen
Market - Construction of a block of 10 lock up stores at
Iguobazuwa Market - Renovation of EDSIEC Building
EDUCATION - Fencing of Obarenren Primary School
- Renovation of a block of 6 classrooms in Ulha
Primary School, inner Ugbogui Community - Fencing of Okponha Primary School
- Construction of a block of 3 Classrooms and Office
in Okponha Primary School
GENERALADMINISTRATION
As the Chairman resumed office, He undertook some
repairs and installation in the council secretariat such
as:
ROAD REHABILITATION
- The Executive Chairman also undertook the
Grading, rehabilitation and
maintenance of some Community roads in the
LGA: Grading of 282kms of Earth Roads
namely; - Maporo road-Ugbogui,
- Ogunwale/Abaijesha Road, Iguatakpa.
Iguobazuwa East. - Iguokahien Road, Iguerakpon
Community, Umaza. - Amayanevbo Street and Ikoha
Community Road, Ugbogui - Iguatakpa II Road, Iguobazuwa East.
- Igueze/Igueladidi/Urhezen Community Roads,
Udo
